Don’t forget these tips when preparing for your wedding toast

Giving a toast is emotional – but giving your own wedding toast can generate even more anxiety. How to prepare for such a special and big moment? We have some tips for you – so read on and find out more.

  • Write it ahead of time and keep a copy of it with you on your wedding day. It may seem silly, but it’s perfectly normal to forget parts of your speech given how emotional everything can get. Better safe than sorry, right?

  • When writing the speech, keep your audience in mind. Remember that they have different ages and different tastes, that they have seen different facets of your love story, and that they belong to different backgrounds too.

  • Practice it at home. And do it a lot of times. The more you practice, the less likely it is that you will lose control in any way. You may feel odd talking in front of a mirror about the love of your life – but it can work like magic for your anxiety and nervousness.

  • Keep it short. And make it sweet. The longer your wedding toast is, the more likely it is your guests will get bored – so keep your toast sweet, short, and a bit funny. People will love it this way!

  • Don’t exaggerate with the jokes. In other words, don’t include anything that may be offensive to someone at the wedding. Even more, don’t include any kind of inside jokes. They may be amazingly funny for you, the bride and the Best Man, but nobody else will get them.
