Create your wedding guest list with ease by following these tips

March 25, 2016

Your wedding guest list is very, very important. After all, these are the people you choose to stand by you as you tie the knot and celebrate the new life you have stepped into – so you should definitely take your time when creating the guest list.

How to do it, though? What are some of the etiquette rules you should remember when inviting family, friends and co-workers? We have gathered some tips for you – so read on and find out more.

  • Inviting the family. Obviously, inviting your parents, siblings and grandparents (as well as other members of the immediate family) should be a no-brainer. However, it is also important to consider the extended family as well. When doing this, please keep in mind that it would be very odd to invite certain members of the extended family and not to invite the other ones (e.g. inviting a second-degree cousin, but not her parents or siblings as well).

  • Inviting the friends. In general, only close friends should be invited to the wedding. Of course, this depends a lot on your budget and on how many people you can afford inviting – but, generally speaking, you shouldn’t feel obliged to invite people with whom you are not very close. For example, you don’t have to invite a couple who invited you at their wedding (especially if you haven’t spoken to them since the event).

  • Inviting the co-workers. As a general rule of thumb, if you invite some colleagues, you should invite the entire department. It is acceptable to invite only some colleagues if you are socially friendly with them outside of the work hours. Also, keep in mind that inviting the department and not the boss can be quite tricky as well.
